For some of the most beautiful scenery in northern U.S.A consider a trip to Lake Superior for a girlfriend road trip full of the smell of pine cones, the biggest lake you’ve ever seen – not to mention a bunch of gorgeous blond north woodsmen.

Most people are more familiar with Bainbridge Island, but Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula is gorgeous and one of the best Pacific Northwest road trip destinations. The Olympic Peninsula Visitors Bureau has created this handy list of ten free things to do while in the area. For a beautiful road trip, take the highway up along the peninsula into Fort Worden or Port Townsend. Then tool around to some of these areas to find beautiful scenery, great hiking, and even vampires!
