Scrapbook Retreats in the Midwest
With the holiday season behind us here in the Midwest, we’re eagerly cleaning our crock pots and pulling memories from the memory cards of our digital cameras. For those of us who scrapbook, we’re already making mental notes of photos we took when everyone was home for the holidays. And now, with our memories printed, delivered, and otherwise piling up on our kitchen counters, we make time to preserve them for generations to come.
Winter seems to last forever in our neck of the woods, and January and February are perfect months for a long weekend away with your girlfriends on a scrapbook retreat. Three things are key to making the most of your weekend: no kids, no men, and plenty of good friends. When looking for the perfect venue for your next scrapbook retreat, specifically look for places with common areas, natural sunlight, full kitchens, and plenty of table space. Here are some of our favorites:
Located downtown beautiful, St. Clair, Michigan the historic Memories Manor was built circa 1880 of second empire Victorian elegance. The Manor is within walking distance of the St. Clair riverfront and boardwalk, and many quaint shops. A 10,000 square foot residence, the Manor has 6 bedrooms, 6 fireplaces, 4 full baths, 3 half baths and 3 scrap parlours that hold up to 18 guests for the weekend; and it’s adorned with original crown molding, medallions, black walnut pocket doors and beauty throughout! Meals are home cooked and served in the elegant dining room—each table setting is on fine china, with a victorian touch. Memories Manor is a also great place to come for the weekend to be pampered, relax, enjoy the company of friends and enjoy a step back in time.
Nestled in the beautiful countryside between Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, White’s Wildwood Retreat is located in a picturesque setting, with comfortable accommodations for 21 at Wildwood Lodge and 12 at Wildwood Cabin. Each building has modern amenities including: a full kitchen with large conference table; a large living room with fireplace, sofa, love seats, oversized chairs; and a spacious open area that can be arranged in classroom seating, work team cells, or cafeteria style.Depending on the size of your group, furniture can also be removed to use the open space as a large reception area. The facility has audio/video presentation equipment and and wireless internet. A wrap-around covered porch, deck, and campfire ring are perfect for breaks and community gathering.
Women love to spend the weekend at the Croppin’ Cottage because it allows them to have a weekend away with their girlfriends, doing what they love to do-scrapbooking! The Cottage was designed, built and decorated specifically for scrapbooking. From cutting mats to shampoo and toothpaste, everything a girl needs is there and ready for use. All that the guests need to bring with them are their personal photos, scrapbooks, and maybe a bottle of wine or two.
Most groups make it an annual event, while others are able to get away to the Croppin’ Cottage two to three times a year. Girlfriends get to catch up with each other while scrapbooking, watching a chick flick, or while getting one of the many in-house Spa Services that are available. Another thing that makes the Croppin’ Cottage stand out from other retreats is the option to cook your own meals in the fully equipped kitchen, have homemade meals catered, or have a personal chef prepare and cook the meals right in front of you.
